our spirits
Great Lakes Distillery is a craft distillery located in the Walker’s Point neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI. We pride ourselves on our commitment to producing quality spirits using time-tested fermentation, distillation, and maturation techniques. We strongly believe in the use of locally sourced ingredients whenever possible for the benefit of both the environment and economy of our home state of Wisconsin.
Our distillery was founded in 2004 by Guy Rehorst who remains the owner and is still actively involved in day-to-day operations. Upon observing the Wisconsin craft beer scene developing a substantial presence in bars and liquor stores, he decided to explore the notion of locally made craft spirits. With home brewing and winemaking knowledge, Guy entered an industry with less than 100 operating distilleries in the United States. Rehorst Vodka was launched in October of 2006 and has since been a flagship product for both Great Lakes Distillery and the craft spirits industry which has now exceeded 2,000 distilleries.
Great Lakes Distillery continues building upon and expanding from our humble beginnings. We currently offer over 12 year-round core products, with an additional 15-20 seasonal and single batch offerings. Tours are available everyday at the distillery along with craft cocktails, samples, food, bottles for purchase, and other retail items. The distillery and tasting room are a great place to enjoy locally made spirits with friends, relax on our patio, or rent for private events.
