Desert Door is a ranch to glass sotol, hand crafted and distilled in Driftwoord, Texas from wild-harvested sotol plants.
Desert Door was founded by three friends – Brent, Ryan, and Judson – who met at the University of Texas. The sotol plant has been around a long while. Evidence points to the indigenous residents of what is now West Texas making a form of sotol hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago. Fast forward to the 1920s – during the prohibition era, enterprising Texans made moonshine from the desert plant. What started as an experiment by our founders soon turned into a full-fledged passion project. The goal – reintroduce Texans (and eventually everyone) to a premium version of this unique spirit.
