In the days of Prohibition, a Minnesota blacksmith monk named Brother Justus built copper whiskey stills and gave them to local farmers to keep their families afloat. He believed that, while making whiskey was illegal, it wasn’t immoral, and that whiskey makers had a responsibility to make it right. His commitment to teaching the distilling arts lifted families out of poverty and made Minnesota whiskey world-famous.

Brother Justus Whiskey Company was founded in 2014, inspired by the legacy of Brother Justus to make the highest quality whiskey the right way and to share it with others. One of the few distilleries using only 100% Minnesota ingredients – water, barley, oak, and peat – to craft exceptional sips of whiskey, ours is a product of the highest caliber and authenticity.

Our three main products include the world’s only clear American Single Malt Silver Whiskey, an unaged sip simply kissed by the barrel on its way to your glass; an aged American Single Malt Whiskey that showcases the complexities of 100% malted barley aged in the world’s coldest oak, Minnesota White Oak; and the patent pending Cold-Peated® Single Malt Whiskey, the only peated whiskey in the world that doesn’t burn peat, but instead preserves the delicate botanical flavors.

From humble beginnings in the basement of another distillery, our Cocktail Room and industrial production facility opened in March of 2021 and we have expanded our offerings to include high-proof limited editions, single barrel selects, and specialty liqueurs and cordials to craft the most exceptional cocktails.
